Former Patient at Martine CenterI had been treated at the hospital for diabetic wounds, and when it came time for my recovery and rehab I was very nervous. I didn’t know what to expect. Would the staff be friendly? Would they know how to help me? Would I be comfortable there? The answers were yes, yes and yes. The Martine Center team welcomed me with warmth and smiles. They made me feel right at home. The medical staff healed my wounds, and the therapists helped make me stronger. But there was much more to it. I loved the food, and the activities were great—programs like cooking and arts and crafts. All in all, the Martine Center staff encouraged and empowered me. They healed my wounds and warmed my heart.

Former Patient at Martine CenterI was in godawful shape after the accident and getting worse. I couldn’t walk or take care of myself. My doctor said I needed to get into rehab. This is where the story starts to get better: Martine Center was where I landed—and good thing! The therapists at Martine Center are very caring. I’d even say they are amazing! I’m back on my feet, walking and taking care of myself. Best of all I got back home in time to spend the holidays with my family. A gift from Martine Center.

Patient at Martine CenterI have diabetes, and as my condition worsened I had to have half of my leg amputated. My situation is complicated by my asthma. To make matters even worse, I’m from Spain, and I don’t speak a word of English. How would I ever be able to rehab if I couldn’t understand my therapists? Answer: Martine Center. The facility has Spanish-speaking staff, and they were always there to help take care of me. I don’t need to speak English to realize that the therapists at Martine Center are amazing. I could feel myself getting stronger every day. And, by the way, my room is beautiful and contemporary. I’ll have my prosthetics soon, which means I’ll be able to walk on my own. Maybe I’ll run a marathon! So, I have two words for the team at Martine Center: Muchas gracias.

Patient at Martine CenterI was unsteady on my feet and fell three times. Not only did I suffer injuries, I was frightened as well. What if I could never walk again? I was worried and losing sleep over it. My doctor suggested I go to Martine Center for my rehabilitation. The moment I entered the facility, in a wheelchair, I knew the place would be good for me. The staff made me feel comfortable right away, as I was greeted with a welcome bag full of goodies. Not only that, I was hungry, and they offered me something to eat. The rehab and recreation teams are just great—real gems! And the residents are wonderful, too. Thanks to Martine Center I can get around now with the help of a walker, and I’m getting stronger every day. I’m not afraid anymore. I’m sleeping great!

Former Patients At Martine CenterI was very sick and weak. I needed help to do just about everything. I was worried that I’d never be healthy again— that I’d be a burden on my family. But coming to Martine Center changed my perspective. The staff was so welcoming, helpful and caring. They convinced me that they’d help get me back on my feet—and they came through. The most surprising thing is: I actually enjoyed the rehab. The CNAs, LPNs and the entire therapy team were all wonderful. I’m back home with my family now—thanks to everyone at Martine Center.

Manoris Long
Resident at Martine CenterI was in extreme pain. I couldn’t walk, I couldn’t even stand on my own. My doctor said I had to be admitted to a facility for rehab, and honestly, I dreaded it. I imagined a dark, depressing place. Then I came to Martine Center, and all my fears went away. The staff was wonderful and welcoming. The nursing staff was efficient and excellent. The physical and occupational therapists were spectacular—compassionate and encouraging. The recreation was fun, and the food was excellent. What more can I say—except to express my gratitude to the entire Martine Center team: for the laughter and friendship and for getting me back on my feet. I’m walking on my own now. It’s been a great experience all around!

Former Patient at Martine CenterI have chronic kidney disease, I’m legally blind, and when I took a bad fall, I was afraid I would never be able to take care of myself again. It’s terrible to be ruled by fear like that—fear of walking, fear of falling, fear of life. Going to Martine Center for my rehab was a turning point. They immediately allayed my fears, leading me from despair to hope. The therapists worked wonders, helped me to improve my balance and increase my strength. Thanks to the Martine Center team, I learned to propel my wheelchair on my own. I can even walk on my own with the help of a walker. After six weeks, I’m back home again, with help from home health services. Most important, my fear is gone!

Former Patient at Martine CenterTotal hip-replacement surgery is no joke. The pain was excruciating and my endurance was severely limited. I was barely able to walk 20 feet with a rolling walker and totally unable to scale a flight of stairs. My condition and my attitude were dreadful. But then I came to Martine Center for Rehab and it was amazing, magnificent, and FUN! I actually looked forward to going to PT and OT every day. The therapy team gave me outstanding strategies to strengthen my muscles, as well as my mind. The therapists had a way of lifting me up and told me not to give up. I rate Martine Center 1000/1000! I never imagined my recovery would be so pleasant and enjoyable. I am so grateful to the therapy team – thank you for making my stay successful and fun!

Patient at Martine CenterI’ve always been an active guy, involved in sports from the time I was in high school. But all that activity finally caught up with me. My hip was shot, and needed to get surgery to replace it. I began to wonder if I’d ever walk again. The team at Martine Center, where I came for my rehab, made it clear that not only would I walk, but I’d be as active as I wanted to be. And let me tell you, the physical and occupational therapists came through for me with flying colors. More than the medical and therapy staffs, there’s a lot to love about Martine Center. I made fast friends with my roommate. The free Netflix is great. And the strawberry shortcake for dessert was spectacular. I’m back home, my hip is strong, and I’m totally independent. But I still dream about the shortcake!

Former Patient at Martine CenterCOVID-19 took my life away. I couldn’t breathe on my own, let alone walk or even stand on my own. I was filled with anxiety: Would I ever get my life back? When I was admitted to Martine Center, the team there gave me the answer: Yes! It would take time, but I would get better. The therapy staff welcomed me with positivity and empathy—their confidence in my recovery was higher than my own. And they came through. It took time—four months—and plenty of hard work, but the therapy was top notch, even inspirational. I walked out of Martine Center on my own. How do you thank those who give you your life back? I will never forget what they did for me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
